I am retiring everythingjustso.
I 'd been asked by a family member not to post their name and/or photo. When I posted an entry with a made up name and photos with no head, this did not suffice to please and, as I don't excel at talking without saying it all, well,
I've decided that I'm going to follow my recurring wish of starting fresh somewhere else, anonymously. This is bittersweet for me; while not many people read me, my primary objective in starting everythingjustso was to "..have place for my mom to look at pictures. And friends." So I'll have to go the extra effort to get photos and updates to mom and friends, but that's okay. Maybe that's how it should be.
Meanwhile, if you're looking for another [fun, I hope] read, I have many on everythingjustso's blogroll. Check them out while you can, if you want; I expect to take everythingjustso private, primarily as a temporary photo holder, within a month or so.
Meanwhile, thanks for being you -- you're so good at it!
And, everything is just so, just somewhere else, not here.
Say goodnight, Nancy. |

The telephone rings.
Me: [Hey! It's not a telemarketer! (haha)]
Girl on phone: What kind of lawyer do I need to talk to if I bought a car?
Me: [huh?] What is the problem?
Gop: What kind of lawyer ...[am I really going to have to listen to this from the beginning? yup.] ...do I need to talk to if I bought a car and he and I both signed?
Me: [huh?] So...what's the problem? [though I now have my suspicions]
Gop: We bought a car and he was the cosigner and they're garnishing my check; don't they have to garnish his? [etc etc etc]
I explain what it means to be the primary signer and the cosigner.
This reminds me of how many times I have lately had to explain why you are required to list your lien holder as loss payee on your insurance, but I soldier on.
Also, I cannot tell you how often I have to ask people to clarify the pronouns they use. Some of the conversations I've had are all but incomprehensible and I have to keep on asking, "Who is 'she'?" "Who are 'they'?" "Who is ..." you get the idea. Inevitably the client answers me in a tone that makes it clear they think I am the one incapable of carrying on a meaningful, intelligent conversation. humph.
It's just another day back at the office! |

| darn darn and darn;
fun fun and fun |
I HAVE pictures I just forgot to download them!
Camping was fun fun fun! (And pics soon, I PROMISE! [done])
We didn't leave until late morning Saturday - lots to get done both around the house and on the camper.
Then we had to go to a graduation party in Ringgold for a couple hours. It was fun, and good food too ;-)
We finally hit the road and arrived and Raymond's & Jenny's in Nashville early in the evening. Raymond, taskmaster extraordinaire, put us all to work getting ready for their big Memorial Day party the next day. (Note to self: in future, arrive on Sunday during party, not day prior. ha) He and Mike went to Sam's and brought back food and more food, including some tasty little meat bits wrapped in bacon that we ate that night. (Jenny and I were gnawing our arms off)
Sunday morning Raymond was back in task mode and, somehow thinking I was not the girly girl I AM, gave me the job of pumping up balls. Well, that didn't go so well. First I way over inflated a basketball and Raymond had to leach the air back out. But, he still left me at it and I next over inflated a volleyball - so much so that it exploded on me. Ouch! I quit then. I SWEAR I read on the side of the ball to inflate it to between "4 and 5" and I DID - but evidently used the BAR gauge instead of the PSI. Whatever. Girly girl I am. I will, however, forever be hearing about the day I exploded Raymond's ball, I fear. (He likes to talk about it for some reason!)
Mike also tripped out a bicycle with the classic co-ed touch - a plastic milk crate strapped on back. We'd been searching for just the right screw (hold off the x-rated comments!) for some time and couldn't find it. Had to be just the right length or something.
whew! I'm getting myself off track...
Let's see...
umm....
OH - so I 'd been telling this person to just get the bike, the bike rack and the crate all in one place near Mike's truck and he'd take care of it. They didn't quite believe me, but we finally accomplished this in a parking lot late Sunday afternoon. Sure enough, Mike pulls some plastic tubing, a drill, some screws and tie straps out of the truck and less than 10 minutes later we're good to go.
Later, lounging around while Mike scoured the internet for our camping spot for the night, we heard marveling over "How did he DO that?" And Mike and I both had to laugh. It's just Mike. He makes things work. He figures things out. He makes due, if necessary, and makes it happen. It's been seen before, but it still surprises.
Oh, and he spotted a couple possibilities for camp that night. So we said our goodbyes and took off.
We went to Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park (a mouthful, eh?). We'd (I'd) been concerned about trying to find a place to camp on Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend, but they had quite a number of decent spots left. Our test night in Raymond's and Jenny's driveway had gone great and now we were 'out in the woods on our own in the camper' for the first time. (OK we were in a State Park with amenities for crying out loud, but still...) No problems. We did decide to try out the other bed, but switched back sometime in the middle of the night. It was more open to one side, but not as wide overall and I'm convinced not as long either, but I could be wrong about that.

There are still a few tweaks we want to make to the camper. The hot water heater should be going in later this week or next. And I want to oil the bathroom and range fans and take the range fan vent apart to see just what's up with it - looks like it might need clearing out. There is also a shelf over-hanging the bed that got in Mike's way when he slept on that side and I might see if I can remove half of it. It didn't bother me when I was on that side, but that's not MY side!! As Mike will tell you, the middle is my side, but that's beside the point, right? I started a journal, in true DeVoe fashion and made some lists of stuff we want to bring next time.
Anyway, it all went great. We hiked around the park on Monday before hitting the local Mexican restaurant (we didn't bring much food this time out) and heading home. |

For Better or Worse - Lynn Johnston (May 23, 2007)

This is SO us! (Only I tend to get sad before I get angry.) Mike would totally say the "That's a good thing" comment. And "We'll deal with it." I can hear him now!
This trailer stuff has gotten us down a bit, but one of the things that first attracted me to Mike, and that I love most about him, is his relentless optimism. It's just so darn pleasant to be around. Imagine - living life with someone who enjoys life!!!
It's awesome!
P.S. I just spoke to Mike and he says, "I'm making lemonade."
Seriously.
How could anyone not love this man? |
