Curb Appeal

Attractive, appealing, eye catching in a good way. No six-foot tall lit up Mr. and Mrs. Santa on the front porch...in July. (Honey, have you taken down the Christmas lights?)

Outdated content and eye-searing color combinations won't get you another drive-by.

Address

When I was in the tenth grade, my family moved to Anchorage's "prominent Loussac Drive." Everyone who knew Anchorage knew Loussac Drive was in one of the nicest neighborhoods on the Cook Inlet bluff.

Your website address communicates volumes. Make sure it says what you want.

Type and Size

Single family? Duplex? Rambling ranch or cozy cottage? Two bedrooms or five?

E-commerce? Social connectivity? Marketing? Ten pages or 10,000?

Layout

When I was a new mother, I lived in a two-bedroom condominium that had such a terrific layout it felt much bigger than its 880 square feet.

Websites should have an intuitive layout with organized information.

Taxes and Dues

Oh, the on going costs of home ownership! The taxes and dues hardly begin to cover it. From HVAC units to dishwashers to the roof, it seems something always needs repairing.

Maintenance costs for websites include domain registration, hosting, content updating and design refreshing.

Extras

The gourmet's kitchen. The view. The hot tub. The master closet. The reading nook.

Seminar registration, custom newsletters, e-commerce, polling features, social media integration; the list is endless.

Who knew? A website is like a house!
